Private-labelling weighing cards: a starter guide for OEMs

Want to sell a scale under your own brand without building an electronics lab? Here is how private-label weighing cards work — MOQs, customisation, and what to spec.

You know your market. You have the dealers, the service network and the brand people trust locally. What you don't want is to build an electronics R&D lab just to put a scale on the market with your name on it. That's exactly the gap private-label — or white-label — weighing cards fill.

We've built the boards inside a lot of scales that don't say "Prime" on the front, and that's by design. Here's how the arrangement actually works, without the sales gloss.

What private-labelling actually means

A private-label weighing card is a complete, tested weighing board — the brains of an indicator or scale — that you fit into your own enclosure and sell under your own brand. The hard part, the part that takes years to get right, is the weighing firmware: stable filtering, clean calibration, legal-metrology behaviour, reliable communication. That's done. You're buying engineering that already works.

It is not a kit you reverse-engineer, and it's not a mystery board with no support. It's our card, built to your configuration, with us standing behind it.

What you can customise

  • Branding. Your name and logo on the silkscreen, the display boot message, and the printout — so the product reads as yours end to end.
  • Features. Choose the display type, the number of channels, GSM/SMS ticketing, printer support, RS-232/485 outputs and so on — fit the card to your market, not ours.
  • Form factor. Board dimensions and connector placement matched to your enclosure, within sensible limits.
  • Firmware tweaks. Application-specific behaviour where it makes sense, on volumes that justify it.

MOQs and lead times, honestly

This is where buyers want a straight answer, so here it is in principle: a stock card with your branding only carries a low minimum and a short lead time. The more you customise — hardware changes, special firmware — the higher the minimum order and the longer the first run, because there's real engineering and tooling behind it.

We'll give you exact numbers once we know the configuration. We won't quote a fantasy MOQ to win the first call and then change it later — that's not how a multi-year supply relationship survives.

The OEM spec checklist

Come to the first conversation with these and we can quote properly instead of guessing:

  • Your target scale type and capacity range.
  • Must-have features vs nice-to-haves (display, GSM, printer, comms).
  • Whether your market needs model-approved, trade-legal electronics.
  • Enclosure constraints and rough annual volumes.

What is the minimum order for private-label weighing cards?
It depends entirely on customisation. A stock card with only your branding has a low minimum and ships quickly; hardware or firmware changes raise the minimum because real engineering sits behind them. We quote exact numbers once the configuration is fixed.
Can the card be made legal-metrology compliant for trade scales?

Do you support the cards after sale?
Yes. White-label does not mean you are on your own — you get the same engineering support behind the board as we give our own products, which is rather the point of partnering rather than reverse-engineering.
